 Description:

The book that first introduced the world of Hollow Earth was translated into English for the first time.

• Investigates the underground world of Agarttha, also known as Shambhala, a spiritually and technologically advanced realm that exists outside our modern society.

• One of the most famous texts on occultism in the nineteenth century

• Written by René Guénon, a philosopher who inspired Papus, and Rudolf Steiner.

With his book Mission de l'Inde, translated here for the first time into English, the French esoteric philosopher Alexandre Saint-Yves d'Alveydre first revealed the underground domain of Agarttha to the Western world in 1886. According to Saint-Yves' novel, vast underground cities existed deep beneath the Himalayas, ruled by a sovereign pontiff known as the Brahâtma. Secret societies have long assumed that the "unknown superiors" cited by secret societies were emissaries from this domain who had travelled underground at the start of the Kali-Yuga, or Iron Age.

The kingdom of Agarttha, also known as Shambhala, is ruled by the highest ideals and represents a world that is both technologically and spiritually much advanced than our own. The inhabitants have incredible abilities that their above-ground peers have long forgotten. In addition, Agarttha is home to vast libraries of stone-engraved books, enshrining humanity's collective wisdom from its earliest beginnings. When Christianity and all other recognised religions of the world started genuinely honouring their own sacred teachings, Saint-Yves explained, the hidden world of Agarttha, with all its knowledge and riches, would be made available to mankind.
